Our lab at California Polytechnic State University, a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI), focuses on the exploitation of simple and efficient chemistry to create novel and dynamic polymeric materials. Our undergraduate research lab provides opportunity for young scientists to develop and explore research and grow into future colleagues.
Since 2007, a total of eighty-nine (89) undergraduate students, including female students (36), 1st generation college students, students from under-represented groups and students of various gender identities and sexual orientations, have directly contributed to work in the Costanzo lab. Approximately 88% of graduated students have been placed in various positions including industry, graduate, law, medical and dental school.
Their efforts has resulted in nineteen peer-reviewed publications, a patent and over 130 presentations. Undergraduate students have given oral and poster presentations in the POLY, PMSE, INORG, and CHED sections at ACS national meetings, as well as being selected to present during Sci-Mix.
