Costanzo Lab

Our lab at California Polytechnic State University, a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI), focuses on the exploitation of simple and efficient chemistry to create novel and dynamic polymeric materials. Our undergraduate research lab provides opportunity for young scientists to develop and explore research and grow into future colleagues.

Since 2007, one hundred and nineteen (119) undergraduate students have directly contributed to work in the Costanzo lab. The Costanzo Group celebrates an inclusive and diverse workforce by the involvement of women, men, students of color, first generation students, students of various gender identities and sexual orientations, and students from other under-represented groups. Approximately 90% of graduated students have been placed in various positions including industry, graduate, law, medical and dental school.

Their efforts have resulted in twenty-three (23) peer-reviewed publications, two patents and over 140 presentations. Undergraduate students have given oral and poster presentations in the POLY, PMSE, INORG, and CHED sections at ACS national meetings, as well as being selected to present during Sci-Mix.
